Yakov AKA Cashew

  • Male
  • 2 years
  • House trained
  • 8-10 lbs

Meet Cashew! This little nut is looking to be your new cuddle buddy. Cashew has the softest, silkiest fur and loves when you run your fingers through it. He gets very excited when he sees you're going to hang out on the couch because then he knows its time to jump into your lap and receive all the love! He absolutely adores being as close to his humans as possible (will happily crawl into your lap, sit on your chest) and also is probably the biggest fan of scratches that his foster has ever seen. He is very cute and will paw at you for pets when he wants them. Once he feels he's received his adequate pets he will snuggle into whatever corner of your body is the comfiest and nap his heart out. After his nap he likes to pull his blanket out of his crate and bring it to you for a game of tug!

Cashew is working on being on a harness and leash. He doesn't like when the harness is being put on or off but once its on he's ok trotting around in it. He still doesn't understand how the leash works but we're getting there! You will probably have to keep some good treats handy to fully leash train him but it's definitely possible. He also doesn't mind being picked up if the walking gets to be too much for him.

He has regular times that he likes to go potty, once in the morning and once in the evening like clockwork. He is very food motivated with the foods he likes and will try to get as close to your food as he can, but he understands not to eat right off your plate.

He has two foster siblings and he gets along with them fine. Although they are both bigger than him he would do best in a home with dogs around his own size. He seems to favor women but warms up to men once he realizes that men similarly possess the power to give him his scratches.

Cashew sometimes gets cranky if you try to pick him up when he's sleeping. All you have to do is wake him up by calling to him and once he's up, he'll happily be carried to bed. Because Cashew can be cranky if handled incorrectly, he would do best in a home with no small children.

Cashew is ready to steal your heart and your lap!

Cashew is neutered, up to date on vaccinations and microchipped. To adopt Cashew fill out an application and volunteer will be in touch.
