xiu - adopted!

Xiu (pronounced Shoo) means "beautiful" in Chinese. She is a one year old chihuahua mix with a shiny jet black coat. She has the best personality you could ever ask for. She likes everyone she meets, people and dogs. She is skinny and food motivated, so we hope to put some weight on her soon.
Our vet suspects that Xiu was hit by a car, as she has a couple of broken vertebrae. She has some trouble with her hind legs and wobbles a bit, but it doesn't appear to be painful. She gets around amazingly fast despite her condition. At this point, our vet does not feel surgery will help. Xiu seems to have adjusted to her disability amazingly well. Her wobble is significant but she acts like she isn’t even aware of it. She recently went on a 2 mile walk and was just fine. She is undeterred by anything. Slipping on a hardwood floor doesn’t mean she’s not going to walk on hardwood floors. While she can do steps, they are more of a challenge for her, so we would recommend a home without lots of steps. Xiu is very easy to fall in love with and is a staff favorite at the vet's. Stay tuned for more updates on Xiu! |
