Sunshine and Xeno

XENO AND SUNSHINE
Sunshine and Xeno are a bonded pair. Xeno is a very energetic dog that loves to play with other dogs and loves attention from his humans. He does play rough but is a ball of fun. He is very goofy and is very intelligent. He is a very curious dog and obeys his human. He will stare at you like there is no one else in the room. He gets jealous when he is not the center of attention. He loves to chase his tail and will play fetch with you with a ball or whatever toy you toss around. He will fetch and bring it back to you but when you try to take the toy or ball back he will make you run after him. He loves to tease you by making you chase him around. He runs really fast and he knows it! When not goofing around, Xeno loves to cuddle with his human and finds joy in giving you kisses and snuggles. Sunshine came to us very feral. He was 9 months old when he was surrendered by her owner to the shelter. At first she doesn’t seem to know how to interact with humans. She hid under the couch or anywhere where no one can reach her. Through Xeno’s help, Sunshine has blossomed into a happy little pup. She loves being with other dogs and follows their lead. She has learned how to go out the house and play in the yard. This was when we realized that she loves the grass and loves to run. She becomes more open to being around humans when she is out in the yard. She loves being chased by Xeno and she loves to run after her foster siblings as well. While Sunshine does not understand that being touched by a human is okay, she does get jealous when all the other dogs are going around the humans for pets. She has learned how to come up to humans when there are treats and twirls around in excitement. Sunshine still needs a lot work in terms of being comfortable being touched by humans. She does show that she wants to be loved but still does not know how to receive human touch. We think that she was left with other dogs (possibly siblings which could explain why she is good with other dogs, but was not given any attention by her humans — possibly left outside). She relies on Xeno for companionship and courage and gets anxious when separated from Xeno. Sunshine and Xeno are like an old couple (but they are still both young pups!) in terms of their relationship. The bicker like a married couple but cannot stand being apart. :). They do things together and share their beds with each other, although they argue all the time which side one should take. They are both available for adoption as a bonded pair. Their ideal home is someone who has experience with dogs. They do live with other dogs and cats in their current foster home. Although they live with cats, Xeno’s curiosity and rambunctious personality, cats get annoyed with him. Although a yard is not a requirement, this would allow Sunshine to show her true self and run like crazy. |
