WILLIE

WILLIE
  • Male
  • Brown, chi-doxy mix
  • 5 years old
Willie needs someone he can count on to love and care for him for the rest of his life.  This is a dog who truly wants to belong to someone.  Unfortunately, he has had to move foster homes several times and this has caused him to feel anxious and insecure.

Willie is a beautiful 5 year old boy who looks like a miniature lab.  He weighs around 20 pounds.
And he is a smart!  His former foster used to be able to put him in the back yard and tell him to run and Willie would run the perimeter of the yard on command!  Willie does seem to get anxious when there’s a lot of noise or traffic around, or a group of dogs as well so he will need to live in a quieter neighborhood.

There are times Willie can get worked up and a little hyper but a belly rub can generally settle him down.  He loves to be outside.  And he seems to love to bark at birds, and other dogs if they are nearby.  Willie does love to bark at times.

From our experience, Willie can get worked up and stressed when he is around multiple dogs.  He should go to a home where he is either an only dog or have just one other dog buddy.

Willie was in a foster home with multiple dogs and did not do well there.  His anxiety level went way up and he bit his owner at unexpected times.  Willie did not bite the people
In his other foster homes who had one, or no dogs so we think his behavior is connected to stress being around a number of dogs.

Willie is a wonderful boy who has been through some tough times both before going into a shelter and then getting moved into several foster homes.  He needs an adult home with owners who have dog experience and  understand that he will need time to decompress and figure out that he finally belong to someone forever.  He may have his quirks, but he needs someone who understands that,  and is willing to help him learn that the world does not have to be a scary and threatening place.  If you stick with him, you will have a truly wonderful, loving, loyal dog.

Willie is neutered, microchipped and up-to-date on his vaccinations. If you would like to adopt Willie, please fill out an adoption application.
