Save Teddy's Leg!

Ready, Steady, Teddy!
Meet Teddy, the cutest 3-year-old long haired chihuahua who was rescued from a hoarder along with 7 buddies in Modesto, CA. At first, Teddy was really scared & wouldn't let anyone near him & would even nip if he got too scared! But, overtime, his foster mom earned his trust with lost of love & treats. Since then, he's blossomed into a playful, loving dog EXCEPT ... He started having seizures! His muscles seize & become spastic & also make it difficult for this little guy to breathe, so he'd yelp out in pain. It has been so heartbreaking to watch this little man go through his episodes. Finally, the vet started him on anti-seizure medication. Once given a low-dose phenobarbital, his seizures lessened in frequency (down to 1-2 episodes a month). His seizures were fully under control when the neurologist increased his dose of phenobarbital. Currently, Teddy has been seizure free for several months now. Unfortunately, Teddy started having difficulty walking! We brought Teddy to the vet who diagnosed him with bilateral subluxating patella. Because this has been progressing, he is now at the point of needing surgery to repair both knees. Teddy has gone from a normal playful dog to a dog that is in constant pain and unable to walk. He cries out in pain when his hind legs are touched & he has difficulty managing simple tasks such as standing up to eat as his hind legs give out causing him to fall to the floor. He tries to walk when he can but he has a significant limp. The poor little guy is mostly confined to his bed except when he would go out to potty and eat. Without this surgery, his quality of life is very poor. Despite his constant pain, Teddy still is able to show his sweet demeanor and still asks for tons of attention from his foster mom. Teddy is still a young pup with so much energy to give. He has had a lot of challenges at a very young age but he is a fighter. We would like to give him all the opportunities to enjoy life and live long as he has still so much to offer! Please consider donating towards Teddy’s surgical procedure and help give him a chance to walk and live his life to the fullest! |
