Meet 2-year old Teddy, a cuddly champagne colored chihuahua mix. He has special needs but is a very smart sweet boy who is sensitive and just wants to please. Teddy is an 8 pound, velcro dog who will bond strongly to one or two people and prefers to stay by their side at all times. He is a little nervous around new people but so affectionate once he gets to know you. He would do best in a calm, quiet, mature adult household with no high energy pets. Ideally someone who works from home and wants a constant companion by their side. When Teddy came to the rescue he was having occasional seizures and his back knees were giving him some pain. The rescue took care of his medical costs to see the right specialists and get his epilepsy well managed so he now only has the occasional seizure. The rescue also created fundraisers to pay the cost of two surgeries (1 for each back leg knee) and he now walks and runs on all four legs! Teddy loves to spend time chewing a bone or shaking his stuffed toys, but his favorite way to spend his day is to snuggle up with or near his favorite person. He is extremely portable and loves to go where you go. He is potty trained and a low activity dog because of his medication, so short walks on a leash are fine for his daily exercise. And if you are busy, he will just get comfy and snooze. At night he loves to burrow under his blankets and get a good 8 hours of sleep without making a peep. He does have some separation anxiety so he would do best if he could always be near someone familiar. Teddy is a great communicator. He does not bark a lot, but when he does he thinks he has something important to say and he snorts when he thinks something is funny! Teddy seems fine with other dogs as long as they are polite and do not invade his space. He may give appropriate corrections to rude or overly aggressive dogs. |
