Sophia - adopted
|
Sophia is a 2 year old lab / dachshund mix who weighs about 30 lbs. She came to Rescue the Underdog from Madera. Poor thing lived in a place where they bred her non stop. Yes--a puppy mill. They'd sell the puppies, and she was expected to make more and more. They gave away her last litter and dumped her. Her milk still needs to dry up.
Sophia is timid and still getting used to life as a family pet, but she is making good progress each day. She is friendly and will come up to you for a sniff and to greet you. She also tolerates being picked up. She enjoys being pet when she is comfortable on the sofa with the other dogs -- still a little skittish but clearly relaxes and enjoys the touch. She seems house trained, as she hasn't had any accidents in her new home. Right now she is in a foster home where she can relax, learn what it is like to be loved and cared for, and begin to start the life of a rescued dog. She gets along with the family members, including a 10 and 16 year old, and she is very comfortable with the other dogs. She seems to be learning a lot from them, which has helped with her adapting to a new life. Her adoptive home would ideally be one with one or more friendly, playful dogs. Sophia is spayed, up to date on vaccinations, and microchipped. She is not adoption ready yet, as she will need time to adjust to a home environment and being a pet. |
