Slinky puts the “s” into sweetness. He ADORES attention, could cuddle all day long with the men and women in his foster home and loves when they hold and pet him while he presses his cheek against theirs. Highly energetic and enthusiastic, he also loves playing with his doggy foster friends, chewing on toys and snacking on Milk Bones, bully sticks and bones. Highly food motivated (breakfast and dinner are his favorite times of day), he learns tricks quickly, knows “come here” and “sit” and is learning “down” and “off.” Especially endearing is the fact that he can jump extremely high, balance on his hind legs for long periods of time, and jump up and down on his hind legs when excited. Say “come here” in a happy voice and he’ll sprint to you, jump in your arms and snuggle with you! The flip side of this, however, is his ability to jump onto tables and counters, but say “down”, and he promptly obeys. For such a happy pup, he’s still frightened by new people and fast movements, loud noises and reflections from the TV and windows. Need to take a bone from his mouth without a fuss? Offer him a treat and he’ll gladly drop it. Unsure about his proper place in his foster home’s “doggy pack”, he sometimes runs and barks at one of his more submissive foster sibs and does best when fed separately from the others. At work on his leash training, he’s fully crate trained, sleeping inside it all night, and potties outside provided a door is open or if he has access to a doggy door. Now, for sweet Slinky to thrive, he needs a home (no young children, please) with gentle, patient and loving adopters who will bolster his confidence, perfect his doggy manners, complete his training and keep him in cuddles fur-ever. Slinky is neutered, up to date on vaccinations and microchipped. To meet or adopt Slinky, fill out an application and a volunteer will contact you shortly. |
