rocky - adopted!
|
Rocky is a male cattle dog shepherd mix who weighs about 40-50 lbs. He is the size of a large Australian Shepherd.
Rocky was surrendered to the shelter by his former owner to be euthanized. The owner claimed that he is 12 years old, "probably has cancer", could barely walk, wasn't eating, and was continuously vomiting. He was scheduled to be euthanized on 10/10/19, but Rescue the Underdog vouched for him with hours to go, and his life was spared. As it turns out, a shelter volunteer reports that Rocky is sweet, gentle, non-reactive to other dogs in the shelter, does not act sick, and definitely looks and acts younger than his stated age. Who knows if his former owner mislead the shelter staff about Rocky's and condition, or if Rocky recovered quickly. Whatever the case, we are happy that Rocky made it out alive and is getting a second chance at life in the Bay Area. His new foster mom reports that Rocky is quiet, house-trained, good in the car, good with other dogs, non-reactive around chickens, great on the leash, stays close off-leash. At 12 years old, he might not have the best hearing or vision, but he is spry and fit and definitely up for hikes and walks. His coat is as soft as cashmere. Stay tuned for more updates on Rocky! |
