Remi is a 3 year old male dachshund mix who has the most expressive eyes you will ever see. You can tell just what he’s thinking by looking into those eyes.
Remi is part of a special story: in early December we rescued 15 dogs and 1 cat from a homeless encampment near Modesto. Their owner was forced to abandon them, and the dogs were captured by animal control and put on the euthanasia list, because no other rescue wanted to take in potentially feral dogs. Not knowing much about the dogs, Rescue the Underdog took a chance and saved all of them, including the cat! As it turns out, all the dogs are super loving, attached to people, great with kids, get along with other dogs and cats.
When Remi came to Rescue the Underdog, he was bone thin and he is still working on putting on some weight. And while he will likely start off shy in his new home, he is a total sweetheart and once he feels safe, will become a second shadow to you. He wants nothing more than to be with his person and he loves to sleep as close as he can to you at night.
Remi gets along with small dogs, cats, and even older kids! Remi loves being with other small dogs, he also likes toys, and enjoys playing fetch! Once he gets to know you, he is very treat-motivated, and eager to please—it’s likely he would be very trainable! This is a dog you will want to love on for the rest of his life. Let him find out what life is like living in a warm, safe forever home where he will never go without again.
Remi is neutered, up to date on vaccinations and microchipped. Please fill out an application and a volunteer will be in touch soon.
