Nuri

  • 3 years old
  • Male
  • 35 pounds
  • Queensland Heeler Mix
  • House trained

Nuri is never happier than when he’s in the company of his fosters.

Not only does he love cuddling with them on the couch and following after them when he can, he loves being petted and chased playfully around the house, then lying calmly at their feet if they’re working or cooking.

He also loves going on long walks and sniffing everything in sight (he is, however, shy around strangers and other dogs) and taking brief car rides (long rides or twisting roads upset his stomach). New to the concept of toys, he enjoys stealing extra collars and long socks, longer pieces of plastic and pieces of cardboard to carry in his mouth. Famously fond of peanut butter, and being food and attention motivated, he’s highly intelligent, quick to learn, and knows such commands as “sit”, “shake”, “get going” (this gets him off the furniture), and “Can I have a kiss?”

When it’s time for his morning walk, he runs in circles and dances until one of his fosters sits down to put the leash on him. If he’s especially excited, he wags his tail so swiftly that his entire butt wags as well, and he can scratch both of his front legs with his back paws at the same time – a feat that makes his fosters laugh.

Gently accepting all treats, they’re key to bathing him successfully, and he’s so well behaved that the only time he barks is when people come to call. Capable of finding his way out of enclosed areas if he sees an exit (he won’t run away from home, he just wants to explore the house), he’s not crated when he’s alone but he sleeps in it at night, and he’s leash and housetrained.

Now all Nuri needs is an affectionate and active home to complete his doggy education and socialization and share in his abundant love fur-ever.

Nuri is neutered, up to date on vaccinations and microchipped. To meet or adopt Nuri, fill out an application and a volunteer will contact you shortly.
