Luna is about 20 lbs and 2 yrs old. I believe she is a mix of Manchester terrier and lab. Whatever she is, Luna is a real beauty! Her shiny black coat and one ear which goes up and the other going down like a lab makes her very attractive.
She is intelligent, attentive in obeying verbal commands while off-leash outside, and greets me with wagging her entire body. She is exceptionally affectionate and trusted me with her puppies when I first brought her home from a high kill shelter where she was very frightened. However, she can still be a little fearful when strangers come up to her, and she crouches down as if she thinks some kind of harm will come to her. Likely this is as a result of her living on the streets for an unknown amount of time.
Luna is coming around, but will need a patient and loving home to help her build confidence. She does not have a mean bone in her body. She was already potty trained when I took her in, which could have been self-taught since being dirty is not her style.
She does tend to bark when frightened, and can also bark when she sees people passing by the backyard with their dogs but that’s it. Luna would make a good agility dog or a running partner with all her energy and athleticism. She would do best in an active home so that she does not become bored in a yard. She is still quite young, and is at a good age to train her to be more than just a pet, as she is intelligent enough to need stimulation. I just love that girl!!
Luna is up to date on vaccinations and micro-chipped. Please fill out an application and a volunteer will be in touch soon.
