Luck was with lovable Levi when he was rescued from a San Jose shelter one day before he was slated for euthanasia.
Now this mellow and mild-mannered mister is cherishing his second chance at life and relishing each moment he spends in his foster home. As affectionate as he is adorable, he’s VERY friendly with the resident 8 and 10-year-old boys, allowing them to come up and pet him, but he LOVES being hugged and cuddled, carried and kissed by his fosters, following them through the house and snuggling close to them while they’re watching TV. In fact, when he’s particularly happy or relaxed, he does a funny soldier crawl, flattening his small body completely and stretching out all four of his legs to crawl to them!
Friendly towards dogs as well as people, he recently stayed overnight with another senior dog and enjoyed the canine companionship, and he can barely conceal his excitement when he sees other dogs during his twice-daily walks. So well behaved that he never barks even if the doorbell rings or a stranger enters the house, he absolutely adores car rides, and although he doesn’t play with toys or fetch balls, he’s motivated by walks and food (he may beg for “human” food but isn’t given any), and bravely tolerates baths.
Accepting treats very gently, his favorites include Greenies, pupperoni sticks and duck jerky, and after having four teeth extracted, rawhides are off the menu. Not a fan of his crate, and learning to pull less on his leash, Levi is now looking for a loving home that will assure him he’s safe, complete his training, including his commands, and keep him in walks and cuddles fur-ever.
Levi is neutered, up to date on vaccinations and microchipped. To meet or adopt Levi, fill out an application and a volunteer will contact you shortly.
