Larry is not your typical poodle mix. He has an outsized personality and is extremely smart! He weighs about 30 pounds and is 3 years old.
Larry loves to play with people and is super friendly with other dogs. It’s not unusual for him to initiate play. He can best be described as playful, smart, loving, mischievous, and sometimes stubborn. He also loves to cuddle his humans.
He loves to go in the dirty laundry basket and grab an article of clothing waiting for you to demand it back, so he can go running away in the opposite direction hoping you will engage him in a game of keep away. He can be naughty!
Larry is also a dedicated environmentalist. It won’t be long for you to discover an empty milk carton under your night stand, or a tin can next to the toilet.
As perfect as he sounds, like every dog, he’s got a few things he is working on. While he will grudging tolerate an occasional bath, he absolutely hates having his hair cut and he will squirm, snap, and even bite to avoid having his hair cut.
Larry does have a bite history. Sometimes Larry thinks he calls the shots in the house and needs to be with a patient adult who can set clear boundaries for the dog. He also seems to form opinions of new people quickly whether he likes you or not. It should be noted that there have been no bite incidents with his current foster who has had him for 4+ months and he is a joy to be around.
Larry will need a forever home consisting of adults only who are versed in understanding a dog’s body language in order to have a successful relationship with him. He loves his people and is affectionate with them and loves playing and cuddling. Larry should also go to an adoptive home that has another dog who likes to play as he really thrives having a canine play buddy.
In order to ensure a positive introduction and adoption, we will have a dog trainer involved with introductions as well as during and after placement so that you and Larry can look forward to spending the rest of his life together making unforgettable memories.
Simply fill out the attached adoption application and submit it electronically. Someone will call you to discuss next steps that in meeting your new best friend.
