Katie is a 2 year old beagle / dachshund mix (guessing by her build and features) Katie is strong, athletic and eager to please. Right away she warmed up to all the people and the one dog in our house. She wanted to chase the cats, and they were not thrilled with her; but after some correction (a spray bottle) she quickly picked up on “cats are friends not squeaky toys”.
Twice a day she eagerly goes on walks and still has energy to fetch a ball or chase various dog toys. She is stout and strong, and acts like a clown to get your attention. When she isn’t playing she wants to snuggle, loves hugs and laying in the sun.
Katie is very clever and just wants to make you happy, she has picked up on training very quickly. Katie does well on a leash, she is learning to whine at the door when she wants out, but prefers that you go outside with her. She has chewed on only appropriate dog toys and chews, she will grab toys and entertain herself if there is a toy basket available.
We have all been under the stay at home orders since we received Katie and there are several other animals, I do not know how she does when left alone. Seeing how quick she is to learn, she could be crate trained easily.
Katie’s challenges; she can get over excited; I.E. pull on the leash like tug of war, fortunately she has an off button, if you gently rub her shoulder blades, she calms right down. She is also a very sloppy drinker, splashes water all over!
To sum up; Katie has done well with everyone in the house including another dog, men and an 11 year old boy. She learned not to chase the cats, she is very intelligent and athletic and just wants to please you.
Katie is spayed, up to date on vaccinations and micro chipped. Please fill out an application and a volunteer will be in touch soon.
