Happiest once his trust has been earned, Howard is both sweetly social and supremely self-sufficient. Preferring to sniff your hand before being petted, he’ll then allow you to both pet him and pick him up.
Now happily settled in his foster home, he’s adorably affectionate, easygoing and calm, loves cuddling with his foster mom, following her around like a faithful doggy shadow and going for walks on a leash. So quiet and well behaved that he’s never barked, he’s patient when playing with his rowdy doggy foster friends, mostly ignores the cat, and does best with older, dog-savvy children.
While he shows no interest in toys, he loves most soft treats, prefers wet food, and is passionate about curling up in the coziest and warmest dog bed in the house (i.e. until one of the other dogs paw-litely “asks” him to leave). Almost fully house trained, he currently understands “good boy”, “come” and “no”, loves sleeping in the same room as his fosters at night, and makes for the most chill and charming of companions.
Now, to make happy Howard even happier would be finding a patient home that will earn his trust and respect his space in exchange for his own enduring loyalty and love.
Howard is neutered, up to date on vaccinations and microchipped. To meet or adopt Howard, fill out an application and a volunteer will contact you shortly.
