Fiorelli
|
The moment we have all been waiting for has finally arrived. After 7 long months of patiently waiting, 3 year old Fiorelli is healed and ready to prance his way into his forever home. Fiorelli is our Covid -19 project. At a time when shelters were closing down Rescue the Underdog simply could not say no to Fiorelli. Fiorelli came to us with 3 serious fractures, after trying conservative treatment which involved casting for 3 months, the veterinarian said amputation was imminent. Amazing friends, family, and many wonderful people with big hearts came together to help us raise over $7,000 for a leg saving surgery! Why would anyone do this for a dog you might ask, the truth is we could all see he is an amazing boy who just needed a second chance. Fiorelli won hearts thru this entire process. His smile is catchy, his cooperation at vet and therapy appointments was like no other. He is quite simply, a champ! Fiorelli is 13 pounds of easy going handsomeness. Honestly half the time we forget he is there. He will walk himself to the balcony for sunbathing duties, often you will find him on a chair in the bedroom dozing off. Mr. Independent you might call him. However he will also come and give the most intense hugs you have ever seen, he loves belly rubs and will nudge you if you stop. Did we mention he talks? He sure does! He is one talkative boy who will repeat I love you (don't believe us we have video) Fiorelli is perfectly potty trained and gets along with cats! One of our cats practically comes up to him and they give each other Eskimo kisses. Talk about the whole package. We think this boy will do great with many different households. He has been with a family if 5 as well as stayed with a single person household. Apartments or or a house will do fine. Children 12 years and up is preferred. As we stated this guy is a great communicator. If you want to take him for a walk after he is in bed he will let you know! All you have to do is say the magic words "walk or potty "and he will get up. Say "treats" and he will get up even faster!! Fiorelli will even help you get his harness on. As with many dogs Fiorelli can certainly use some training. We have been told that he did amazing at a dog park, but when walking on a leash he can be reactive to others. He learns quickly and responds well to treats. He needs regular, leisurely walks to help him gain confidence in having 4 working legs again. He sometimes forgets he can put weight on it and is often found hopping! Whoever adopts him must keep in mind that daily walks are a must. Fiorelli is neutered, up to date on vaccinations and microchipped. If you think this boy sounds like a match fill out an application we will be more than happy to answer any questions. |
