Our rescue group is completely volunteer run. We are funded by nominal adoption fees, private donations from our generous supporters, and more often than not our volunteers paying out of pocket, because we can't bear to see one of our dogs go without the medical care they need. Our fosters pay for dog food, bedding, treats, and other supplies out-of-pocket as well.

Because we are Rescue the Underdog, we take dogs that other rescues won't take. That means our dogs are sometimes older or have special medical needs. Some of our dogs come with broken bones, hit by a car or suffered other injury that was not treated. Some of our dogs were loved by their previous families who unknowingly neglected their medical care, so they end up needing costly medical procedures once they are in our care. These are the dogs we save.

We would not be able to continue operating without the support of our generous donors. Please consider making a general donation to our medical fund. Or make a specific donation to one of our special needs dogs.

4 months ago we rescued a dog named Ivan from a hoarder house along with 7 with other dogs. He was in really bad shape, besides being absolutely terrified, he had 3 serious injuries on one side of his body. It was so sad to see this 6 month old (at the time) puppy had gone through so much pain and suffering right at the start of his life. We knew we had to do right by him and get him the medical attention he so desperately needs. Since he has been in foster care he has shown to be sweet and loving despite everything he has been through. After a visit to a specialist doctor, we learned that these issues can be repaired but will require costly surgeries (the first of which has been completed). While he's recovering from the first surgery, he has ONE more to go! Therefore, WE NEED YOUR HELP to raise the money as his medical care will cost approximately $5,400. If you find it in your heart to help this pup, please donate.

Teddy came to us with a seizure condition, that we managed to keep under control with medication. Unfortunately, Teddy started having difficulty walking quickly afterwards. We brought Teddy to the vet who diagnosed him with bilateral subluxating patella. Because this has been progressing, he is now at the point of needing surgery to repair both knees. Teddy has gone from a normal playful dog to a dog that is in constant pain and unable to walk. He cries out in pain when his hind legs are touched & he has difficulty managing simple tasks such as standing up to eat as his hind legs give out causing him to fall to the floor. He tries to walk when he can but he has a significant limp. The poor little guy is mostly confined to his bed except when he would go out to potty and eat. Without this surgery, his quality of life is very poor.
