Ever so cute in caramel and cream, cautious Kit is most confident in the company of his canine foster friends. He not only loves them, he could easily play with them all day, and when the playing stops, he mischievously tries to poke them, then runs away! Highly energetic but not a great fan of toys, he burns off that excess energy by racing round the backyard, barking at every bird and squirrel he sees. Less skittish around new people as his self-assurance has grown, he now warms up to them more quickly, while his fosters’ patience has revealed his sweetness, gentleness and loving personality. Still preferring to approach them rather than having them pick him up or hold him, he loves curling up next to them and sleeping while they work and will, on occasion, permit them to rub his belly. He also likes licking them – their faces, their hands and their feet! Famously fond of food and treats, he prefers home-cooked meals to dry dog food, even waiting in the kitchen when his meals are prepared in the hopes of stealing slices of apple or carrots. He also has a winning way of “whining” when he wants attention or, of course, his favorite: food. While he knows “come” and “sit”, Kit doesn’t always comply. He’s crate trained, almost fully housetrained to use a doggy door, but needs ongoing work on his leash skills. And so, what he needs now is a loving home, preferably with another friendly dog as both mentor and playmate, and patient adopters to continue boosting his confidence and complete his training (his commands included) in exchange for his own enduring loyalty and love. Kit is neutered, up to date on vaccinations and microchipped. To meet or adopt Kit, fill out an application and a volunteer will contact you shortly. |
