Dean is a 5 year old poodle mix who is about as cute as they come. He tends to be more on the quiet side and while he gets along with other dogs, fine as an only dog. Dean has a sweet disposition, but he has trust issues. We suspect that he was not treated well in his former home. The result is that while he is friendly enough, he can quickly snap at you if you try to do something unexpected, or something he is unfamiliar with. His reaction can be immediate and strong; almost like he is expecting something bad to happen as a result of your actions. He will improve in time with a patient owner who goes slowly with him and pays close attention to his body language. Rescue the Underdog will pay for a trainer to a committed foster or adopter. Dean does have more than a few endearing traits. He will stand on his hind legs when being offered a treat. He loves watermelon!! And he loves to quietly crawl into bed with you and want to sleep on your chest or next to your head. Dean would do best in an adult only home with owners who have dog experience and intuitively read body language. A fenced yard would be great as a resource until he can discover the joys of walking on a leash.
