CARL - ADOPTED

CARL
Carl is a brown min pin with a big personality. When we rescued Carl, he had wounds over half his body which have now healed. The first 24 hours he was friendly but fairly timid and just laid in the dog bed and observed everyone. The first couple of weeks Carl was nearly silent but would run to the door, shake his butt, and jump happy when you walk in. After 3 weeks he is really shining with a very silly personality. Carl does smile when you walk in or when he is upside down and wants a belly pet. The mail person and anyone knocking at the door now get a fair warning that there is a tough guard-dog protecting the house. He barks, only when appropriate and not in a yappy way. Carl loves to play, he runs and plays tag, he does ‘talk’ when he is playing, so please don’t mistake his playful trash talk as growling. He can also jump straight off the ground much like a circus , walk in the strangest u shape because he isn’t always sure which direction to go and he is always happy. Carl gets along with the other dog. He and the cats tolerate each other. Carl wants to snuggle all day and night, he likes men and our 11 year old. As he has become more comfortable he is getting more protective, and may take on more than he can handle. He does like the dog crate, we leave one open all the time and all the animals take refuge in there whenever they want, often together (including the 11 year old!) The cons of Carl are he did mark things at first. I do take him out often – he goes outside now, but he is not good at telling you when he needs out. He has darted out of our gate twice when it’s open and he thinks it’s fun to have you chase him, keep a leash on this pooch if you are taking him out or he is at a gate with you (he doesn’t do that at the door?) As far as separation anxiety or chewing; I don’t know. He is never alone here, he has cried when I have left, but not for long; though there are always at least a companion dog if not another person. We have plenty of toys and dog chews that he does enjoy – he is young so though he hasn’t chewed anything (aside from trash and appropriate toys) I would make sure he has plenty of toys and chews to entertain him. Carl is a funny little man that will make a great companion or family dog! Carl is neutered, is up to date on vaccinations and micro-chipped. Please fill out an application and a volunteer will be in touch soon. |
