Tula is an independent, self-assured senior gal with a great sense of adventure. She likes her naps by the heater, but she is also totally up for a ride in the car or a walk on the beach.
Tula loooves meeting new doggie friends. Tula has been living with 2 other dogs while in foster care and does very well in this environment. She is social with both dogs and people, though she doesn't see or hear that well so needs to be handled with care.
She learns routine quickly and always appreciates assistance up and down stairs. Her vision and hearing are not perfect but that does not slow her down one bit. We are constantly amused by Tula's determination to keep up with the rest of the crew. Tula's gentle spirit and her ability to bond with the people and animals around her will make her a loving addition to any family.
Tula might be nervous at first but warms up as soon as she finds her bearings and knows she is safe. We did not see Tula around cats but cats are most likely fine--she is non-reactive to most everything .
She would do well in a home where kids are 12+ years in age as it startles her to be handled without warning. Tula likes being in her crate. She sleeps in it at night, comfortably travels in the car in a crate, and naps in her crate when we leave her home alone (up to 4 hours). Tula has had accidents in the house, but there have been fewer as she learns she will be given ample opportunities to relieve herself outside.
Tula's new people will need to be able to comfortably pick her up as she requires assistance up and down stairs.
Tula is currently taking antibiotics for kennel cough. She still needs to be evaluated for cherry eyes and a cyst on her back. She will also have her teeth examined and cleaned when the kennel cough has cleared.
Tula is spayed, up to date on vaccinations and microchipped. Please fill out an application and a volunteer will be in touch soon.
