Venus - adopted!
Venus is a 1 yr old corgi shepherd mix. She and her sister Saturn were found as strays in Modesto, CA. They were within a day of being euthanized, when Rescue the Underdog stepped in to save them.
Venus is sweet and smart. She gets along well with other dogs of all sizes and loves playing. She can be a little bit shy at first, but treats and walks are the way to her heart, and she quickly warms up to anyone who can give her both. We know that she has lived in a house before because she is potty-trained and seems to understand that she should be calm while indoors. |
At less than 20 pounds, she is the perfect option for anyone with a weight limit in their lease or someone with a smaller car. Unlike many other small dogs, however, Venus can out-run and out-hike the best of them. She has gone on 10-mile hikes and 5-mile runs with her foster, and did not show any signs of being over-tired. Rather, she has the time of her life anytime outdoor exercise is involved.
Venus is very food motivated (she will even train for regular kibble), so she is a great option for anyone who is interested in training their own dog and the bond that comes with it. She came to the rescue with no training, but she mastered “sit” within a week, so we know that she can learn so much more! Although Venus enjoys living an active lifestyle, she is also perfectly content to curl up on the sofa and watch TV with her foster. Unlike her sister who seems to need a lot of exercise to feel well, Venus can be content with a daily walk around the neighborhood. Venus has not been around children, but we do not recommend her for families with kids younger than 10. She can playfully nip during playtime (which she is learning to not do), and she can accidentally bite fingers when taking treats unless they are offered with a flat hand. Venus is spayed, up to date on vaccinations, and micro-chipped. If you’d like to meet her, please fill out an adoption application and a volunteer will be in touch. |
